BNB Chain Pascal Hardfork Upgrade, Smart Contract Improvements, and Increased Transaction Performance
BNB Chain officially launched the Pascal Hardfork upgrade on March 20, marking a major step forward in improving transaction efficiency and enhancing compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
Pascal Hardfork Upgrade and Major Improvements
Pascal Hardfork integrates Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 7702, bringing a series of major upgrades to the BNB Chain ecosystem. The most prominent feature is the smart contract wallet, which improves user experience by enabling gasless transactions, mass approvals, and faster asset swaps.
The Pascal Hardfork rollout also requires node operators, validators, exchanges, and infrastructure providers to update their systems to ensure synchronization with the network. Failure to implement this upgrade could result in nodes losing their ability to synchronize after the hard fork.
In addition to Pascal, BNB Chain also plans to implement two other major upgrades in the future. The Lorentz Hardfork, scheduled for April 2025, will reduce block generation time to 1.5 seconds, increasing transaction speed. By June 2025, the Maxwell Hardfork will further reduce block processing time to just 0.75 seconds, further improving network performance.
BNB Chain leads the DEX market with record trading volume
The Pascal Hardfork upgrade is being implemented amid a boom in trading activity on BNB Chain's decentralized exchanges (DEXs). According to data from DeFiLlama, in the past 24 hours, the network has recorded a DEX trading volume of up to $2.13 billion, far exceeding Ethereum ($1.75 billion) and Solana ($1.48 billion).
Not only that, the total weekly trading volume on BNB Chain has also increased by nearly 60%, reaching $13.56 billion, while rival networks recorded a decrease of about 40% in the same period.
Much of this growth momentum comes from the explosion of memecoins such as Mubarak, attracting a large number of transactions on PancakeSwap. BNB Chain's flagship DEX has processed $2.56 billion in transactions in the past 24 hours, nearly double the trading volume of Uniswap - the largest DEX platform on Ethereum.
Conclusion
The implementation of Pascal Hardfork not only helps BNB Chain improve trading performance but also enhances compatibility with the Ethereum ecosystem. Meanwhile, the strong growth of DEX transactions shows that BNB Chain is becoming one of the leading blockchain platforms in the field of decentralized finance (DeFi). With further upgrade plans, BNB Chain promises to continue to strengthen its position in 2025.
