From Aerostrovilos to Bellatrix Aerospace: Deep Tech Startups, One Year Later
Deep tech continues to attract attention and investment in India, as many startups in the space move closer to commercialization. A year after being featured in the first edition of Deep Tech, leading startups in the space have achieved important milestones, affirming the potential and value of deep tech to the economy and society.
Aerostrovilos and the Gas Turbine Shift
Aerostrovilos, which develops micro gas turbines, has made significant strategic changes over the past year. According to co-founder and CEO Rohit Grover, the company is now focusing on power generation applications, rather than its original focus on the automotive industry. The reason for the change is that gas turbines can use alternative fuels from a variety of waste sources, which shortens product development time and increases commercial viability.
Aerostrovilos initially aimed to integrate the turbine into vehicles, but technical challenges forced them to adjust their plans. The new version of the product now uses many off-the-shelf components for generators, which should speed up testing and production. Grover expects the company's first product to be available later this year.
If testing goes well, Aerostrovilos can begin scaling up production and increasing sales. The first pilot shipment will also include several units sent to Europe, where potential customers will test and evaluate the product's performance.
The Rise of Deep Tech in India
The story of Aerostrovilos is a clear example of the strong growth trend of deep tech in India. Startups in this space are gradually moving from research to commercialization, reflecting the growing interest from investors and businesses. This shift not only brings economic growth opportunities but also contributes to sustainable development, as many new technologies focus on environmentally friendly and energy efficient solutions.
The progress of Aerostrovilos and other deep tech companies points to a promising future where revolutionary innovations will improve the quality of life and change the way many industries operate.
